So, while I can't discuss it in game, let me show you what I have going on to make this game more accessible.
First off, I have a triple-head system, so this might not work for everyone. Screen 1 (leftmost) is my system menu and browser/assorted crap. Wikia on demand? Yes please.
The center screen is the game. Note the bar up top. Also note all the millions of windower plugins. This has been very valuable.
forums.apradar.com/index.php: More important than all this is what is on the right screen. The big ass map is ApRadar3 (which is the drop down bar up top as well). This shows where you are on map updated in real time, aggro/ability/spell ranges, and all mobs on map within 50 yards. You can imagine how nice this is for leveling, pulling, or tracking future pets. This map also shows players if you want making it easier to find people, including invisible ones.
forums.windower.net/index.php?showtopic=15562: Booty is a treasure pool tracker with timers. No more clicking the menu every other kill to figure out what dropped. This is awesome for dynamis or farming to prevent you from letting things drop.
www.ffxiquery.com/: FFXIQuery is a program that lets you see all sorts of info on your character such as levels, skills, attack, accuracy, CP/IS/AN, rank points, along with information on your party members. I compulsively watch these things, so it's handy not to have to watch the menus when skilling up.
Most of these apps can be shrunk and run semitransparent overlayed on your FFXI window if you don't have a million miles of screen real estate. I just thought I'd share some fun tricks that can make playing a bit more enjoyable.
